Winter steelhead are currently returning to the Hood River basin, and some anglers have been reporting success fishing near the Hood River mouth. Numbers of steelhead in the Hood will continue to increase through late winter, with winter steelhead returns generally peaking in mid-March. Use of bait is allowed on the Hood River when fishing for salmon or steelhead. Three hatchery steelhead may be harvested daily
