October 2nd, I got to San Diego and it was drizzling. The weather was not too promising. There were dark clouds on the horizon. Not too many boats went out that day. We left the dock around nine o'clock then proceeded to the bait receiver. Captain Mike was at the helm on this trip and gave us the safety speech & pointers on this trip. He headed us straight to 140 miles offshore to find warm water. We started trolling around 8:30 am. Immediately, a couple of Dorado hit our feathers. Then my buddy Ko Tamura got a nice Yellowfin Tuna which he won the jackpot. We caught some good size Dorado about 10 to 18 lbs. The Yellowfin Tuna were about 10 to 20 lbs. All day long we would troll and find several kelp paddies. Captain Mike kept us going all day. We didn't stop trolling till about 7 pm. The weather was getting nasty at that time. They said there is a storm coming in from the Alijos Rock area. I couldn't believe how the whole crew worked so hard on this trip. They still find fish even on this late season. Our total count for the day: 25 Yellowfin Tuna, 18 Dorado, 38 California Yellowtail and 25 Skipjack for 34 anglers. I would like to thank the crew of the Ranger 85 for their top notch service that we experienced. Also I would like to thank Chef Paul for all the delightful meals especially the scrumptious Lumberjack Steak Dinner. Whether you'll be in San Diego in the summer or in Oxnard in the winter fishing, always check on the ONE and ONLY RANGER 85. Thank you Captain Frank for the trip.
