The lake is ice-free, but access is limited. Only usable boat ramp is near the dam. A small vessel and 4x4 is recommended. There should be some overwintering fish in the 15- to 18-inch range available. These fish are excellent table fare especially this time of year. However, numbers will probably be sparse as the last few years of extremely low water and warm summer temperatures have a put a hurt on the trout populations. Larger fish did appear to survive last summer. Get out here while there is still relatively easy access for smaller vessels at the dam. ODFW did stock 40k fingerlings back in the fall which should now be in the legal-size range. No legal trout have been stocked this season yet. The lake is 15 percent full.
