Emigrant Reservoir Fishing Report

OR Department of Fish & Wildlife Staff

Report Date:

http://www.dfw.state.or.us

Emigrant anglers were having luck on the 500 recently stocked pounder trout recently, by trolling near the area A boat area. Some additional rainbow trout (grade-out steelhead smolts) were stocked last week as well. These fish will be seeking out cooler water likely near the Dam. Crappie and bass anglers have been doing well on crappie jigs and Texas rigged or drop shot plastics. Catfish anglers will want to fish with chicken livers.

The Emigrant Creek arm does have submerged vegetation where warm water anglers may want to try focus some effort around. Rocky points should also pick up some fish on drop shot rigs or plastics.

There is a longstanding health advisory for consumption of resident warmwater species in Emigrant for high levels of mercury. Consult the sportfishing regulations or the Oregon Health Authority for more information on consumption guidelines.

The RV park is again open at Emigrant, as are 40 basic tent sites at Oak Slope Campground.  For more information on park facilities visit the Jackson County Parks website.

The most current elevations for Emigrant Reservoir and other Rogue Basin reservoirs can be found on the Bureau of Reclamation’s website, here.
