Yesterday PG&E decided to increase the release and the flow on the gage at the lake is now around 570 CFS. Unfortunately, the sediment was stirred up and the river is pretty cloudy again. When they drop the flows it should clear. The October Caddis are thick in the top end right now. For the Octobers, dead drift or swing pupa patterns like Mercer's TB October Pupa. If you are using Rubberlegs, let it swing on the end of the drift. If you would like to try for some fish up top, your best chances will be right at dark with a Stimulator or Mercer's October Skater. Blue Wing Olives are the other prominent insect coming off, the brown Jig Nation, dark BP Weiss nymphs are working well right now. Fish are holding close to the banks right now. PG&E and the Forest Service will be working on the road down to Ash Camp to fix the slide. They are not permitting pedestrian traffic through the slide area. If you want to get to Ash Camp, you can hike up from Ah-Di-Na or come over from Fenders Ferry.
