Comins Lake is 100% ice covered with a few small areas with weak ice present. Most areas that were sampled had 19-to-20 inches of solid ice. Fishing has been good on both the north and south lakes. Anglers can expect to catch 14-to-18-inch rainbow trout and the occasional brown trout and possibly a tiger trout. Trout are being caught on a variety of lures, jigs, and worms. Northern pike have been caught recently by jigging Rat-L, flashy spoons, and even nightcrawlers. Anglers, please note that NDOW has placed radio tags in several northern pike. These pike will have an orange floy tag near their dorsal fin and a small antenna (~ 7 inches long) coming from their stomach. Please return these fish to the water for research purposes.
Ice fishing holes must not exceed 10 inches in diameter (NAC 503.583).
