The Lower Deschutes opens in its entirety tomorrow. Nymphing will be hot with stoneflies so make sure to have some on you. A variety of sizes and colors is a good idea. These big nymphs will end up in the drift more and more frequently as the hatch approaches next month. A 2 nymph rig with a big stonefly and a smaller mayfly or caddis is a good way to approach the river right now. BWO’s, caddis, and march browns should be on hand in case you find yourself in the right place at the right time. Swinging around a sculpin or crayfish streamer is also a fun way to get some grabs. The river will likely get a bit crowded for the opener so make sure you're giving other anglers space and go have some fun!
