A large thunderstorm parked on Mt Shasta and hammered the upper reaches of the Sacramento River drainage which has muddied the river up somewhat. We haven't had a report from the Dunsmuir area, but on the low end the turbidity gage is showing the river is pretty cloudy. The water in and above Dunsmuir should be just fine. The Caddis are coming off in the evening, Poopahs and Bird's Nests are good flies during the day. Some Blue Wing Olives and midges coming off will have fish sipping in the shady slicks. With the larger Caddis coming off, be ready with and Elk Hair Caddis in #14 and dark Missing Links in from #14 through 18 will cover the gamut. The October Caddis are moving to pupate right now, some fish will eat the cased insects in the faster water. Swinging Pupas will be right around the corner. Rubberlegs, Perdigons, Sweet Peas, and #16 S&Ms in olive and brown are all going to work from time to time.
