Saturday, September 23, 2023 - DERBY INFORMATION
This is a trout fishing derby. Your child can catch any of our species of fish BUT in order to be in the running to win a trophy for the largest fish of the day, you have to weigh in a trout, either Lightning or Rainbow.
The event is held in the South Parking Lot, and that is where you will register. Registration begins at 5:30 AM.
Fishing starts as early as 6:00 AM and final weigh-in for the competition is at noon. (Hint: the best bite is between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM.)
Lunch will start immediately after weigh-in, between 12:00-12:30 PM. We will have fresh fish as well as hamburgers and hot dogs. After lunch, ALL prizes and trophies will be handed out immediately, around 1:00 PM.
We will wrap up the whole derby by 2:30 PM so make sure you remember to stop by our vendor booths to grab some awesome items!
If adults purchase raffle tickets for the adult raffle, keep in mind that the money you spend there goes directly to next year's derby. Also, adults are welcome to fish as long as you have your CA State Fishing License and a Lake Cuyamaca fishing permit. Proceeds from purchasing an adult fishing permit will also go to next year's derby.

O.P. Ball Memorial "Fishin' in the Pines" Free Kid's Derby
is our biggest annual event!
Last year the 2022 Kid's Fishing Derby registered approximately 523 kids ranging in age from 3 to 15. Our largest crowd to date! So awesome to see the shoreline full of smiling faces!
The kid's fishing derby is made possible solely through donations. Each child receives a fishing pole and reel just for registering. Donations also make food, prizes, trophies, kayaks, face painting, music, and more possible. Next year being our 23nd Annual, we are looking to have an even more successful year!
Donations of cash, checks, gift cards, gift certificates, or raffle prizes are greatly appreciated and tax deductible.
Bring your kiddos and family out! This is one of the best fishing derbies around and one you don't want to miss.
If you have any questions or would like to donate, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. Again, anything is welcome and appreciated!
Hope to see you all on Saturday, September 23, 2023 for another memorable year!
