EAST WALKER RIVER
The East is still running around 290cfs and is fishing pretty well. Lots of good reports coming in, mostly from the “Miracle Mile” section but a few from further down and from Nevada. Lots of good streamer and nymph action lately. There are lots of nice rainbows in the first mile that have come from the reservoir earlier this year, some of them taping well over 20 inches. Some of the patterns we’ve been hearing about: sculpzilla, dead drift crayfish, conehead ziwi, double bunny, wooly buggers, perdigons, z-wing caddis, buckskin caddis, rainbow warrior, prince nymph, san juan worm, jig head worms. .

SCEIRINE RANCH
The ranch is also fishing well, most of the same patterns that are working on the California side will also fish well on the ranch, you can also throw in some stonefly nymphs and rubber legs to round out your box. With the lower flows we’re starting to get more bookings several weeks out so if you want to plan some time on the ranch be sure to give us a call ahead of time.

HUNEWILL POND
The pond fished excellent for nearly all the anglers who fished it this week, lots of nice healthy fish were caught and we heard several stories of very large fish being broke off! The only complaint we had was that the weeds can be difficult to deal with but all of the other anglers said they had great days. Most of the fish are still being caught on small leech patterns, a few on soft hackles and a few on seal buggers. I think now that the weather is starting to cool down it should fish pretty well out there for the remainder of the season.

BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR
The Reservoir fished well this week with most of the fish still coming from up in the East Walker, Robinson and Buckeye channels. We had fish up to nearly 8 pounds come in within the last few days. There has been a few fish caught trollling but mostly still bait fishing and/or fly fishing up in the channels. Power bait, pinched crawlers, mice tails and inflated crawlers are all doing well and for the fly anglers try ice cream cones, balanced leeches, soft hackles.

KIRMAN LAKE
Only had one report from Kirman this week and we were told it was pretty tough with only 2 or 3 fish being caught. If you’re heading up that way I would be packing some small leech patterns, scud patterns, soft hackles, seal buggers and maybe some stillwater nymphs.

TWIN LAKES
The Twins are still producing good numbers of nice fish on the troll, bait fishing and a little bit of fly fishing as well. For flies you can try balanced leeches, seal buggers, Twin Lakes Specials and soft hackles, for bait anglers try pinched crawlers, garlic power bait, and mice tails. For trolling you can try Rapalas, Thomas Bouyants and Kastmasters.

WEST WALKER RIVER
The flows are down to 120 to 130 cfs on the West now so it’s shaping up nicely. We’ve started to get a few good reports from up there from anglers fishing spinners, bait and some flies. The Pickle Meadows area is starting to kick out some fish as well as some of the water along Highway 395 through the canyon. We’ve of course had some anglers reporting slow days but others are doing better. For lures you can try Panther Martins and Roostertails, for bait try night crawlers and salmon eggs. For flies you can try hoppers, ants, royal wulff, humpy, prince nymph, pheasant tails and hare’s ears.

VIRGINIA LAKES
The Virginias are also still producing some nice fish, mostly for the anglers who are getting away from the shore in tubes or kayaks but there are some fish also being caught from the shore. Hook up baits, sierra slammers and Thomas Bouyants are all doing well up there as are mice tails, pinched crawlers and power bait. For flies try wooly buggers, seal buggers, stillwater nymphs, soft hackles and zug bugs.
