EAST WALKER RIVER

The flows on the East were bumped up to about 320 cfs for a few days this week and now are back down to about 290cfs. The fishing down there has been very good, the flows are still a bit high for some stretches of the river so it is a little bit limited as to where you can fish comfortably but the areas that are more wadable are doing very well. There’s still some good streamer action but the best action lately has been with nymphs. Some of the patterns that have been successful lately: sculpzilla, conehead ziwi, dali lama, double bunny, dead drift crayfish, caddis nymphs, prince nymphs, zebra midge, darth baetis, drag queen, pheasant tail, squirmy wormy, jig head worms.

SCEIRINE RANCH

The ranch is also still fishing very well with lots of nice fish being caught down there, the same patterns that are working on the Cali side will also be working on the Nevada side. We’ve been booking out a ways in advance for the ranch so if you want to get out there try to give us a call ahead of time.

HUNEWILL POND

The pond fished excellent this week with one angler even reporting 30+ fish to the net. Most of the action has still been on small leech patterns like a Mayors jig head leech, seal buggers and Solitude mini leeches. There has also been a few fish caught with soft hackles trailed behind a leech pattern. Not any news this week on dry/dropper rigs, mainly the leeches. The weather has been colder lately and I think the damsels are probably history for this season.

BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR

The Reservoir is still fishing well up in the channels, hopefully as the weather gets colder the trolling will pick up and the fish that are hanging out in the channels will start to spread out across the lake more. Mice tails, pinched crawlers and power bait are still the trick for bait anglers. We didn’t hear from any fly anglers this week but I think if you’re up in the channels. you should still be able to pull some fish hanging balanced leeches and soft hackles off of an indicator.

KIRMAN LAKE

We didn’t hear any news from Kirman this week but as soon as we do we’ll be sure to pass it along.

TWIN LAKES

They’re still catching good numbers of fish on the Twins with some reports coming in from anglers getting into 10 to 15 fish per day. The largest fish we saw this week from up there was an 8+ pound rainbow from the Lower Twin, there were also other reports of quite a few fish in the 3 to 5 pound range. For bait they’ve been using power bait, mice tails and crawlers, successful lures include Hook Up Baits, Kastmasters, Thomas Bouyants, Sierra Slammers and Rapalas.

WEST WALKER RIVER

The West is now down to around 100cfs to 120cfs and the fishing is starting to pick up. Panther Martins, Roostertails and Blue Fox spinners have been doing well for lure anglers, for bait it’s been salmon eggs and night crawlers. Fly anglers are doing the best drifting nymphs like hare’s ears, prince nymphs and bead head soft hackles.

VIRGINIA LAKES

The Virginias are still producing lots of nice fish with lures, mini jigs, bait and some flies. Hook Up Baits, Sierra Slammers, Kastmasters, Thomas Bouyants and Hot fire spoons have all been working as well as pinched crawlers, inflated crawlers and mice tails. Balanced leeches and soft hackles should do the trick for flies.
