The Lower Deschutes has been fishing well. Don’t forget that the tribal side of the river is now closed. Nymphing has been the most productive with eggs, girdle bugs, jigged leeches in maroon, pheasant tails, and zebra midges have all been picking up fish. Having some BWOs on you is not a bad idea for the foam lines in the slow moving back eddies. Swinging sculpin, crayfish, and leech streamers has also been picking up some nice trout. There are steelhead around and people have been catching them swinging flies and nymphing. If you catch a wild fish, please leave it in the water and release it quickly.
