The upper river is in great shape, and the rains brought the flows up on the lower end down by the lake. This should draw more fish up from Shasta, so it would be a good idea to explore the lower spots prior to heading all the way up to Dunsmuir. The last storm only added a little color to the river and it has taken the edge off making fishing conditions perfect. Now can be a good time to swing and strip streamers as these fish will definitely be interested in eating small fish. Closer to the lake Shad patterns will work like the Shad Float 'n Fly, Sculpins are always good, try Barr's Slumpbuster in olive and black are two good options. Blue Wing Olives and midges will be good nymphs to try in the mornings, olive and black X-Mays and S&Ms along with the BP Weiss Nymph and Olive Hotspots.
