Yesterday the Sea Wolf did a hook and line survey with NMFS and NOAA personnel along with 10 volunteer anglers sampling nearshore rockfish species, specifically quillback rockfish. Every location we sampled the quillback catching was pretty wide open along with blues, vermilion, china, lingcod and gophers. They used the ultrasound machine on the females to see how far along the eggs were for spawning. We caught more quillback in 3 hours of fishing than what the department of fish and wildlife was willing to allow the whole state to catch for both commercial and sport fishermen.

Also we fished the islands today and filled our sacks with yellowtail, vermilion, greenspotted and some very large chillipeppers. We ended our day with 220 rockfish and 220 Dungeness crabs for our 22 anglers.

We’re off the the next couple days and starting back up on Friday with plenty of available spaces. As of right now there looks to be another break in the weather at least for the first half of next week, I’ll keep you updated as the forecast extends out through the week.

The Sea Wolf runs trips out of Fish Emeryville in Emeryville, CA. If you would like to go fishing with us please BOOK ONLINE or call (510) 652-3403 to get in on the action.
