The East Walker on the California side of the state line is closed until April 27. 2024. The Nevada side of the river is open through the Winter.
The Nevada side of the river has been fishing pretty well, at least when the weather cooperates a little. I’ve had several reports this past week of anglers getting into 5 to 15 fish per day, I haven’t heard about anything huge but there’s been some nice fish in the high ten being landed. Most of the action is with nymphs and small midge patterns but typically around this time of the year the stonefly nymphs start producing. Typical of this time of the year you don’t need to get down there early, you should have good success from about 9 or 10 in the morning until 2 or 3 in the afternoon. The flows are still in the mid 90’s which is awesome for this time of the year! Some nymphs to try: flashback emerger, darth baetis, perdigon nymph, rainbow warrior, copper John, micro stone and pheasant tail.
