The Illinois River is open to catch-and-release trout and winter steelhead fishing. Check the regulations for more information on the harvest of winter steelhead. Recent reports indicate winter steelhead have been hooked at Briggs Creek. And with the break in high flow events, the river is fishable and winter steelhead have been reported up to Green Bridge.
