The Russian is finally starting to improve in clarity but the flows remain high and most likely will since both reservoirs are full and they are dumping water to make room. We typically see fresh steelhead into April with a mix of spent fish heading down so don't fret if the lack of opportunities have you down. Just remember that as of April 1 bait season will be closed on the Russian as well as all coastal streams. This includes any added scents to lures. Current flows are 2300 in Guerneville and 1300 in Healdsburg with about 1 foot of clarity.

The Russian rolled over this morning at nearly 8000 cfs! Needless to say it is a muddy mess with this being the first flush of the winter. Good news is all those coho salmon we saw a few weeks ago will make home to spawn! I expect conditions will be tough for a bit with plunking bait and a spin-n-glow along the edge your only option.
