EAST WALKER RIVER
The flows on the EW are still around 219 cfs and the river is still fishing very well. The caddis hatches are in full swing which is turning on some good dry fly fishing most days as well as day in and day out good nymphing. We’ve been getting a couple good streamer reports now and then as well though that doesn’t seem to be as consistant as nymphs and dries. The weather has warmed up enough so that most anglers are wet wading down there lately. Some patterns to try include: buckskin caddis, z-wing caddis, Fox’s poopah, LaFontaines deep sparkle pupa, perdigon, silver streak, flashback emerger, rainbow warrior, elk hair caddis, E/C caddis, razor caddis, parachute Adams.

Also, some food for thought, in the Fish and Wildlife Departments infinite wisdom they have decided to not make barbless hooks mandatory on the East Walker, this is absolutely going to be detrimental to the life if this amazing river in the future, if you care at all about the East Walker and its sustainability, please pinch your barbs, if everyone adheres to this practice it will help the East Walker River to keep on being a world class fishery. Thanks for your consideration.

SCEIRINE RANCH
The ranch is still fishing very well, fly selection will be much the same as on the California side of the river as well. Lots of caddis and midges hatching down there, with lots of nice fish eating both on the surface and on the bottom. Give us a call if you’d like to book a day on the ranch.

HUNEWILL POND
The pond is still fishing great, lots of nice fish being caught out there. Most of the action is still on small leech and soft hackle patterns though there has been a few anglers having some success with dries and dry dropper rigs. It’s a beautiful setting to be floating around scrapping with crazy feisty rainbows, give us a call if you want to get on the calendar!

BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR
The reservoir is still producing lots of nice fish with one 9 pounder making a showing this week as well! The trolling action is very good with most boats reporting 10 to 30 fish per day, Rapalas, Thomas Bouyants, speedy shiners and night crawlers are all doing well. There’s still some fish being caught from the shore down near the dam with bait like power bait, inflated crawlers, mice tails and pinched crawlers, the action from the shore isn’t quite as good as from boats but there still getting into some.

KIRMAN LAKE
We didn’t hear anything again from Kirman this past week but I would guess it is still fishing pretty well like it was last week. If you’re going to make the trek up there I’d be packing some leech patterns, soft hackles, scud and maybe some small flashy nymphs as well.

TWIN LAKES
The Twins are also fishing very well still, lots of nice fish are being caught up there with bait and lures. Some of the lures that are working well include Rapalas, kastmasters and Thomas Bouyants and for bait they’re using power bait, mice tails, pinched crawlers and inflated crawlers. There are lots of fish in the 1 to 3 pound range being caught with a few here and there going over 3 pounds.

WEST WALKER RIVER
The flows on the West seem to be going down a little bit each day lately, the water is off color but not super dirty right now. I would say that within a week or two it should be in very good shape and the fishing should pick up considerably up there.

VIRGINIA LAKES
We’ve been getting lots of very good reports from the Virginias lately, bait anglers, lure anglers and a few fly anglers all seem to be doing well. Lure anglers are doing the best early and late in the day with Thomas Bouyants, Kastmasters and roostertails, bait anglers are catching fish throughout the day with power bait, pinched crawlers and mice tails. Fly anglers are doing the best fishing from tubes with buggers, leeches, matukas, soft hackles and zug bugs.
