Donner Lake is currently very busy, especially in the afternoons, with boats and recreational activities. The best time for fishing is in the early morning, as anglers are currently getting the best results. Rainbow and cutthroat trout have recently been stocked at the boat ramp, and shore anglers using powerbait and worms off the bottom are having the best luck catching fish. Anglers who are trolling for Kokanee at Donner Lake are mostly using wedding rings. Most of the lake trout have migrated deep to the 100-foot water column. As of now, Donner Lake is at 95% capacity.
