Hosmer Lake this week again was dressed to impress. Wednesday Skip and Mile were in the boat and I would say it was the best day I have ever seen at Hosmer. We fished all Upper Lake, but the lower lake is now in the safe zone for water temps and is worth fishing again.
Callibaetis Cate and Red Holographic Jigs were best under the indicator, and Harrop’s Callibaetis Nymph stripped on a Hover was outstanding. This is a final brood of mayflies and they are getting smaller, which is why I chose harrow’s nymph as a better choice to match the naturals.
Scuds and Waterboatman are showing up in the throat pump samples.
The week before was damsel city, and this week there were not many around. IDK, seems early to be done done, but maybe….
Ants and Beetles are good dries if the Callibaetis are not on. These callibaetis are very dark bodied and the Extended Body Cut Wing or Black Butte Callibaetis are 2 I’d choose for the dun. Harrop’s Captive and a Sparkle Pupa are 2 I’d have to round out the mayfly’s.
