I know you’ve heard us say it over the last few weeks, but so far this season has been nothing short of fantastic. We are hearing “The best November ever” thrown around a bit and we have a hard time disagreeing. Most of the employees in the shop have been getting out on a weekly basis and have been consistently landing fish over 15 pounds and some just falling short of that coveted 20-pound mark a few times.
Although it’s a common belief that the bite often slows down in December, with how good it has been thus far, we’re having a tough time thinking it will shut off to the point where we will not want to fish here every weekend. Both the indicator bite and strip bite remain great, and depending on the beach you decide on for the day, you can have shots on both any given day.
The indicator bite remains mostly on leeches, and on days with chop. When fishing deep, the larger profiles have been fishing better over the micro leeches popular later in the year. This week, the main color palettes have been various shades of black, with some luck on olive or white when the sun is high.
For stripping, the ubiquitous midnight cowboy has been working in most situations. As well as larger profile beetle pattens in chartreuse and white or shades of black. We recommend 1x fluoro tippet for indicator fishing and 0x or 15-pound fluoro for the strip. We are stocked up on Cortland tippet and most sizes of Seaguar Invizx Fluoro, micro swivels, jaydacators, rods, reels, flies and lines all specific for this lake. As well as all the info on how and where to make the most of your day out here. So stop by and gear up!
We’re open every day of the week, from 9-6 and we absolutely love getting people geared up to fish this world class fishery!
