The lake offers many opportunities for some great fishing right now on the fly rod. Find a back cove with a tributary creek, they are all flowing right now, and look for Rainbows taking emerging insects. When you find them, midges or small BWO nymphs fished under indicators can work. Try also stripping in a plain old Pheasant Tail in #14 - 18 with an I Line and you won't be disappointed. For the bass, they are stacked in the 12- 25' depths eating crayfish. You will need a full-sinking line with an Orange Jiggy Craw, Whiplash Cray, or Creek Crawler. Bounced down the banks this is too much fun. The fall bass and trout season is here on Shasta!
