The Metolius continues to provide great spring fishing opportunities. Pale Morning Duns are showing up more regularly, adding to the already steady Blue-Winged Olive activity. Caddis are making appearances throughout the day, but trout are largely keying in on pupae beneath the surface rather than rising to dries. If you’re heading out, be sure to carry Film Critics, Knock Down Duns, and Sparkle Duns in PMD and BWO sizes. The occasional Green Drake may start showing from the Canyon down.
Perdigons, 2-Bit Hookers, Golden Stones, and Zebra Midges are all turning fish. Eggs continue to work well in deeper slots. Bull trout are actively chasing streamers—target them early for best results.
