The Metolius continues to fish well this week, with a steady mix of PMDs, caddis, little olive stones, and golden stones keeping trout active throughout the day. Dry fly action has been most consistent in the afternoons and evenings—especially in shaded runs and foam lines. Purple Haze, Elk Hair Caddis, and X-Caddis are top choices when fish are looking up.

Subsurface tactics are still the most productive. Both Euro and indicator rigs are putting fish in the net, with patterns like jigged Frenchies, purple perdigons, Berry’s PCP, nitro caddis pupae, zebra midges, sparkle pupae, and jig PMD nymphs all pulling weight. The fish are getting technical, so tight drifts and subtle presentations are the name of the game.

For those chasing bull trout, this is a great time to get aggressive. Stripping articulated streamers through the deeper canyon sections or swinging them behind structure in low light can yield some gnarly grabs. Think big and bold if you're going hunting.

All in all, it's a great week to be on the Met. Cover water, fish smart, and bring the full box—you'll need it.
