All indications are positive for a great season despite a below average snowfall for the Sierras. Do not worry, storms are on the horizon and we have all seen Feb./March and April produce a lot of moisture.

The Reservoir is currently 3/4 full and ice-covered. Skating has been more than fun!

Reports of late warning of the dreaded New Zealand Mud Snail invading the Hot Creek Hatchery cause some concern as to the stocking program. Rest assured there's a plan in motion for procuring fish.

It appears the East Walker River will open March 1st for year round catch/release only. Stay tuned!

Lower Owen's is fishing strong, ski in the morning, fish in the afternoon. This fishers is famous for catching large healthy trout. Due to a rich aquatic ecosystem, similar to Crowley Lake. The most common methods for landing these trout are using:

Trolling- with nite crawlers or lines such as Excel's, Rapala's, Needle Fish, Flatfish, and any casting liure or spoons. Use either leadcore line with or without flashers or monofilament line with weight and flashers.

Fly fishing-The most fun ever! Stick these monsters with a size 16, 18 midge pattern and your life will change! We encourage everyone to try this not only for the fun and excitement but the catch and release philosophy that will ensure a continued strong fihery for generatiosn to come. Guides Available!
