Report Date:
http://www.cortezcharters.comDorado continue to set the pace for the boats at Cabo San Lucas and
the billfish counts remain above a one fish per boat average with the
better boats ranging from 2-7 billfish per day. High boat for the
week was the "Tuna Time", reflecting 15 stripers released for 4
fishing days. Both, Gaviota VIII & Tuna Time has single days that
reflected 7 releases per boat. Even better is the proximity of the
fishing which remains, for the most part, just off Cabo Falso drop-
off, 4-5 miles from the marina. Overall fish counts for a combined
total of 40 fishing days reflected 1 blue marlin taken aboard the
Gaviota XI, 51 stripers, (48 releases) 1 sailfish released, 2 wahoo,
26 yellowffin tuna and 132 dorado.
Cabo Climate: Mostly sunny & clear with temps from 60 nights to 79
daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Finally, some stability throughout the area from
Golden Gate Bank around to Gorda Bank, with the temp at 77-78 degrees.
Best Fishing Area: Continues to be on the Pacific side with good
fishing right around the corner from the Marina to the Golden Gate Bank.
Best Lure/Bait: Live bait has been best by far, but sufficient
strikes are taking place on the mackerel colored artificials to keep
anglers on their toes for a live bait drop-back.
Live Bait Supply: Good supply of caballitos and a few mackerel at
the Golden Gate and Cabo drop-0ff.
