THE GAVIOTA SPORTFISHING FLEET AND FISH CABO FLEET

Cabo San Lucas sportfishing remains in the annual transition mode with difficult fishing and very slow on charters. This past week the water temps became varied on both sides of the peninsula and the warmer waters were pushing into the Sea of Cortez. Overall fish counts for 10 combined fishing days reflected 2 srtipers, 2 mako shark, 8 dorado, 3 yellowfin tuna, 2 Sierra and 1 roosterfish.

Cabo Climate: Partly cloudy days through the weekdays and showing promise for a bright & sunny weekend with temps ranging from 60 nights to 86 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: On the Pacific side from Golden Gate Bank down to Jaime Bank and in to shore, the temps held at 74-75. Outside temp break fell to 71. Directly outside of Cabo was a 12-15 square mile area of 71 degree water. Moving easterly and toward the Sea of Cortez, from Chileno to Gorda Point, the temps moved to 74-75 and above the Gorda area, rose to 77. Very changeable water conditions in all areas.

Best fishing area: All of the fish reported were taken on the Pacific side of Cabo, from Cabo Falso to Migrino, but no special hot bite area.

Best Lure/Bait: Of the fish that were caught, most were taken on live bait.
Live Bait Supply: Continues to be very good with mostly caballitos.
