THE ARIES SPORTFISHING FLEET

The offshore billfish bite was definitely much improved from the past several weeks and has re-established the faith in the fishing from Mazatlan. This past week saw the "ARIES VII" as high boat for the week, landing 5 stripers for a single fishing day. The bite shot upward on May 17th and 18th and continues to offer good offshore fishing. Interestingly, the inshore bite has slowed up a little but is still providing pretty good bite action for the super panga anglers. The overall offshore report for a total of 16 days fished reflected 22 stripers, 1 sailfish, 22 dorado and 4 yellowfin tuna in the mix. The inshore fishing for 4 days reflected 9 corvina, 1 mako shark, limits of mojarres, 5 roncachos and 2 cochitos for their efforts.

Mazatlan Climate: Mostly sunny & warm days with temps from 63 nights to 90 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Generally calm with light southerly tropical breezes. Sea temps at 80 inshore and rising to 82 offshore with clean and blue water at 10 miles.

Best Fishing Area: 18-25 miles out to the southwest of the Marina El Cid.

Best Bait/Lure: Rigged mullet were best for the billfish with a few being taken on the petrolero lures.
