The SFR crew was lucky enough to fish with the Bassmaster himself, Captain John Fuqua, aboard his Seajay sportfisher fishing out of Channel Islands Sportfishing Center in Oxnard. With cold water and stiff winds around the Northern Channel Islands the surface bite has been slow to get going. Luckily for us the wind backed down long enough for us to make the trek to Santa Cruz Island for some rockfishing. Conditions were tough but the SFR crew fished hard for some really nice reds, chucks and other assorted rockfish. Captain Furqua's crew, Donald and Jorge worked hard untangling lines and bagging fish as well as doing an excellent job on the fillet board.
