Catching at the lake has definitely improved. Thanks to the large stocking by the Department of Fish and Game on Wednesday 2,000 pounds of pan-sized Rainbows. Fishing the Inlets (DingleBerry, Little George, & George) with the norm which is NightCrawlers, PowerBait & Salmon Eggs was a workin'. And catching was great at the back of the Lake near the DingleBerry Inlet as every boy fishing (18 of them) in Boy Scout Troup 915 caught a fish and many caught a few more - I'm sure there were a few badges for "Fish Cleaning" given out Saturday night. Trolling with Wooly-Buggers or lures with some red on them (like the Red/Gold Thomas Buoyant or the tried and true Super Duper) or using flashers and a NightCrawler saw limits produced. Those fishing from shore were catching using PowerBait and those adrift were seen using NightCrawlers. Frank Hidalgo caught another large rainbow - a 3-3/4 pounder on PowerBait from the shore by the launch ramp. Randy and Ryan sent in a picture of a nice stringer taken in by the launch ramp.

The water level of the Lake has receded about a foot and stabilized, so there's no longer a need for goulashes to get to the docks. Temps are in the low 70s for highs and mid 40s for the lows. We had some afternoon showers this week and there's a still a chance for them over the next few days. We should have known it was going to rain a bit as it always seems to when Boy Scout Troup 915 comes to town. You can check www.weather.gov and enter Aspendell, CA on the site and it will give you a fairly good hint at the weather or check in with Howard at www.MammothWeather.com

All USFS campgrounds are now open. The price this year to camp at the Forest Service campgrounds are $21.00. The only USFS campground that accepts reservations is Four Jeffery. There are 31 sites available for reservations: you can book on-line at www.recreation.gov or call 1-877-444-6777. All other campsites at Four Jeffery and the other campgrounds are first come, first served. There is a full hook-up RV campground - Creekside RV park which is on the road to South Lake. The skeeters are making they're annual return - best come prepared with the bug juice and don't forget the pnchos. Remember your polarized dark glasses and sunscreen. Wash your hands after applying sunscreen, bug juice or any other fu-fu juice.

Lake Sabrina Boat Landing has gone to summer hours. That means we'll be opening at 7:00am and stay open until 7:00pm. The Café is now open daily for Breakfast at 7:00am to 11:00am with Lunch being served from 11:00am to 4:00pm. We have homemade pie, sodas, beer, wine, coffee, tea and hot cocoa. Lake Sabrina crew is looking forward to seeing you all this year.
