The recent trout plant has provided only spotty action for rainbows. Once fish accumiulate, fishing should greatly improve. Another 4,000 lbs. of trout to be planted October 14th. Shad are still up all over the lake and good fishing for small mouth can be had in 15 to 25 feet on a variety of shad baits. Largies sometimes mixed with the smalies, but have usually been a bit shallower. Crappie fishing fair with most of the slabs coming out of the narrows. Red ear and blue gill were both no shows last week. Catfish still biting well in the backs of coves and in storke flats. Mackeral and dough baits have been the best offerings. Bow fishing for carp legal as of Oct. 28. Water temperature is 70.5.

Bass --> Good --> Average Size: 1.5 lbs.
Bluegills --> Poor --> Average Size: .25 lbs.
Carp --> Fair --> Average Size: 5 lbs.
Catfish --> Good --> Average Size: 3 lbs.
Crappie --> Fair --> Average Size: .75 lbs.
Redear --> Poor --> Average Size:
Trout --> Fair --> Average Size: 1.5 lbs.

Starting October 15th, Marina hours are 6:00am to 6:00pm. There have been a lot of striper, catfish and crappie and some few small and large mouth bass. We have only had two Trout come in this week but the water temperature is still high 60's at the surface so as the weather cools the trout fishing will pick up. Jeff Sarbak of Livermore caught a 1 lb. 5 oz Trout o a Shad Rapala by the dam on 10/08/10. Meredith Fiythe of Fremont caught a 2 lbs. 5 oz. trout with a rooster tail by teh dam on 10/09/10. Trystan Clark of Livermore caught a 4 lbs. small mouth bass on worms across from the Marina on 10/2/10. David Heist of Livermore caught 3 large mouth bass, the largest was 9 lbs. He caught in on a silver croc in the lower narrows 10/07/10. Kenny Khu of Livermore caught a 2 striper. The largest was an 8 lb. 8 oz. in Swallow bay 10/06/10. Art Savallez of San Jose caught a 7 lbs. 5 oz. Striper on night crawlers by the dam 10/07/10. Dora Bizzari of Oakland caught an 8 lbs 3 oz catifish on stink belt in bedger cove on 10/02/10 Carl Bizzari of Oakland caught a 7 lbs. 5 oz. catfish on Shad in the narrows on 10/02/10. Chris Kennedy and Dan Prows caught 2 catfishes. The largest was 7 lbs.. They were caught on chicken liver by the dam on 10/03/10. Marcus Garvey-Bassett of Hayward caught a 1 lb. 4 oz. crappie on worms from shore 10/02/10.

This week the trout fishing was excellent this past week, with more anglers able to scratch limits, and 3 to 4 lb. fish common. The fish are still up on top, and flat-lined broken back rapalas, kastmasters, and super dupers were the top baits. The 'bows are all over the lake now, but the best areas were still Cachumas Bay, Santa Cruz Bay, and in front of Harvey Bay. Shore anglers also did well, with power bait,......

The trout fishing has been slow. Those catching trout are drifting nightcrawlers, or trolling needlefish, and there have been some fish caught on Rapala's too. The Crappie bite is in the narrows if you can find the fish. They biting on Chartreuse jigs. There has not been any sign of Catfish lately. The Largemouth bass bite has been good. They are biting on Topwater baits including Rattletraps.......
