Hurricane Paula slid right up the Caribbean coast and put a damper on the fishing and weather for a couple of days with the winds reaching near 100 mph and causing the closure of the Port on Tuesday and Wednesday. On the brighter side, no damage was reported for the Marina El Cid or the boats and all was starting to get back to some normality on Thursday morning. Very few boats fished this week as folks scheduled to be in the area were canceling their vacation plans or at least, postponing plans. We had a report for 8 days fished that reflected 1 sailfish, 8 barracuda, 7 bonito, 1 Spanish mackerel, 9 triggerfish, 1 mutton snapper and 1 grouper.

PM Climate: The rain & wind is gone from the area as Paula made her way on up toward Cuba, and left the area with partly cloudy conditions and temps that ranged from 67 nights to 88 daytime highs and light & variable surface breezes. Back to the comfortable tropical daily norms.

Sea Conditions: Temps remained at 82-83 throughout the area and the water clarity remains very good following the hurricane.

Best Lure/Bait: Rigged and un-rigged ballyhoo remained the bait of choice, albeit, they had to tap their reserves and should be back to normal by tomorrow.
