The trout fishing slowed a little this week, and the full moon coupled with the warm weather put the rainbows down a bit deeper than they had been previously. But those that tried various depths were rewarded with some nice catches. Jim Stornetta of Santa Maria trolled a dodger and 'crawler combo down rigged to ten feet caught an impressive 8 lb. "tail walker" off of E point. Rapalas were still the most productive lure, with needle fish and kastmasters working as well. Shore anglers on E point and the fishing dock in the Mohawk area reported decent action on night crawlers and powerbait. Bass anglers had a tough week as the largemouth and dmallmouth seemed to have developed lock jaw. Most fish were caught in deeper water on spoons and jigs, with the river channe around Arrowhead island holding most of the biters. All other species were slow at best. Fish count: 238 anglers reported 225 trout, 47 smallmouth, 40 largeouth, 9 cappie and 3 catfish for a 1.36 fish per rod average.

Rate the action based over the past week:
Bass ==> Fair ==> Average Size: 1.5 lbs.
Bluegill ==> Poor
Catfish ==> Poor
Crappie ==> Poor ==> Average Size: .75 lbs.
Trout ==> Good ==> Average Size: 1.75 lbs.

Harveys', E-point, and Mohawk have been the best locations for shore angling with Powerbait, 'crawlers, and Gulp salmon eggs. Bass fishing showed a lot......

"tail-walker" from an undisclosed location from shore. "We also saw quite a few 3-4 lb. fish brought in by the rental fleet" said staffer Brian Nickel. Trolling action did slow a little though, but more boats still had some nice stringers of fish. Rapalas, needle fish, and......
