The winner of a new Davis boat, a pickup or $25,000 in cash was determined by raffle yesterday at the end of the Fred Hall Show in Del Mar. Dr. Robert Blum will be the one to make that tough choice, said Frank LoPreste, who began the Friends of Rollo organization many years ago after the tragic death of James "Rollo" Heyn, a wonderful long range skipper who was a friend to all and especially to kids who wanted to fish.

Dr. Blum is in India at the moment, said Frank, so information is limited until he can be contacted.

The show went off well over the weekend, I thought. I only got to see one duck race, but it was a thriller, with great flapping and splashing. I did manage a few shots with my new ten frames a second Sony a55 camera, as the dogs performed their stuff, leaping for height and distance. The crowd was very good Saturday and almost as large Sunday, or so it seemed to us vendors in the big building.

Thanks as well to Mike Lum and Bart and Katie Hall for putting on another big show, and for their help and advice in getting me some special photos and setting up a proper booth, something I hadn't done before.
