Trout fishing has been the best for trollers who worked the top 20ft. of the water column. Rapalas, Kastmasters and crawlers were the top baits this week.

Fish were caught all over the lake but the narrows and Cachuma Bay seemed to be the most consistent areas. Shore angling reports were limited but Drakes Cove, E Point and Harveys Bay all produced. Nightcrawlers, CD Rapalas and powerbait accounted for most catches.

Bass fishing improved from last week but most were taken in deeper water with no sign of bed fish yet. Spoons, jigs and creature baits got the best results.

Bow fishing for carp provided a lot of action, but not many were shot. They are starting to spawn though, so makeable shots should become more common. All other species were very slow.

Fish counts are as follows: 186 Anglers reported
223 trout
44 largemouth
33 smallmouth
1 crappie

This is a 1.6 fish per rod average
9 carp taken by bows

Fire tiger rapalas, needle fish, and an assortment of spoons were the top baits for trollers. Reports from the shore were......

Rapalas and needlefish were the top producers for the boaters; powerbait and nightcrawlers were getting the job done on the bank. Bass fishing is still on the slow side but the river channel seemed to be the best location, while jigs and spoons were the best baits. All other species were......
