In other action on Lake Oroville, the number of bass being caught is increasing dramatically, reported Fil Torres at Oroville Outdoors. "The bass fishing is very good", observed Torres. "Anglers have to search a little, because one pocket may not have any fish, and the next identical pocket may give up 20 to 30 fish or more. The spotted bass are beginning to stage for spawning, and the big fish in a recent Anglers Choice tournament was over seven pounds."

"Best lures are wacky-rigged weighted Senkos, in both four and five-inch sizes in various colors. Once the fish move up into the bushes, it will switch to Texas-rigging. Not much has been seen as far as good catches on reaction baits."

"The coho salmon are ranging from 60 feet down right into the upper 30-foot levels. Most anglers are trolling with 2.5-inch hoochies in glow or pink colors, behind a size 2 or 3 silver dodger. This years' fish are about 12 inches long, but a few anglers casting small metal spoons are catching some of the larger salmon."

Torres tipped, "All of the dredger ponds in the Oroville Wildlife Area and the Teichert Ponds in Chico have very good bass fishing right now. Try them with a topwater frog or spinnerbait."
