http://www.alohaspirit.comHello Anglers, Hello Anglers and welcome to beautiful day aboard the Excel. Today was the day for Albacore, and lots of them. We started off a little slow in the morning, but the lull didn't last long. We started with a couple of strikes here and there until about lunch. And of course when the cooks make the lunch call... We all know that is when the bite is going to start (well it seems to work that way quite a lot.) We started our first good bite with a three way jig strike, which turned in to a stop for 146 quality Albacore. The fish were biting right on the corner, eating heavy line, yo yo jigs, and swim baits like Fish Traps. Actually, they bit everything. With most of the fish between 22 to 25 pounds, 146 of them isn't all that easy. Some of the fish were as big as 30 pounds. We couldn't travel more than a few minutes without a jig strike, and it wasn't long before we had our limits for our happy anglers. So after all of those Albacore what are we to do? We are now on our way to Guadalupe Island for a possibility at some night time Yellowtail and a morning of fishing the north end for Tuna. The nice weather should make for a pleasurable ride home tomorrow and comfortable conditions for our Prime Rib dinner. Mike Pritchard. P.S. I'm sorry that we don't have pictures from today, our camera seems to have a mind of its own.
