Catfish are still the best bet and mackerel or packaged dough baits are having the best results. Shallow coves and creek channels are holding the majority the kitties.

Trout still on the slow side, but the quality for those caught makes up for the quantity as beautiful hold over rainbows to 5 lbs. were taken drifting crawlers 25 to 40 ft. down near the dam. Trollers still picked off a few and lead core to 4 to 7 colors with dodger/needlefish combos provided the best action.

Bass are holding anywhere from 10 to 20 ft., and texas rigged plastics, blades and drop shot have all been catching largies and smallies. Crappie have been sporadic, but there are some good numbers recorded down in the narrows and in Cachuma Bay. Mini jogs tipped with crappie nibbles accounted for most of the slabs. Bluegill can still be caught around almost any stand of tules in the lake. Meal worms and red worms are the baits of choice. Only a few carp were taken with bows last week. Look in shallow, rocky areas for the bugle mouths.
