Current Lake Conditions:
Cold water produces good fishing. Lewiston Lake has cold water in abundance and some of the biggest rainbows around. Reports out of this spring-creek like fishery have been great and they have been poor. The key is knowing where the fish are, at what depth they are eating and what they are eating. Get in your boat and try Hunchback Scuds, Mercer's Gidget, #18-20 Zebra Midges in red or black. Lewiston Lake should be on your August through September fly fishing list. Lewiston Lake is a perfectly good destination to cast a fly rod!

The Fly Shop's ? Tips:
You can't go too small. Can you? When using indicators, the takes can be difficult to see and detect, and then the takes can be electric. Successful indicator anglers keep the flies in the water, all the way to the backing, then low and slow retrieve. Sink tip fly lines allow anglers to retrieve leeches and buggers fast or slow. This lake is best fished from a motorized boat, pram or pontoon boat. Float tubes are fine if you are okay with walking back up to the parking lot after the slow current of Lewiston pushes you to the southern end of the lake.
