Anglers Finds Larger Models when the American Angler goes to Guadalupe

Brian Kiyohara docked American Angler at Pt. Loma Sportfishing August 27 after a five-day trip. "We spent a day at Guadalupe Island, and then fished offshore," he said.

Wayne Wilkerson of Valley Center spent 25 minutes taming a 70.5-pound yellowfin tuna after it ate his sardine on a 3/0 Owner Flyliner hook and 40-pound Blackwater fluorocarbon. He used 60-pound Izorline spectra on Talica 10 reel and a seven-foot St. Croix self-wrapped rod.

Bruce Marcotte of Oceanside won second place for a 65-pounder, and Pete Nelson of Malibu produced a 57-pound Guadalupe Island yellowfin tuna for third place.
