Fall fishing patterns are starting to take shape as the shad are moving into shallow water. Both smallmouth and largemouth bass can be found suspended in the main lake points feeding on threadfin. Spoons, spinnerbait and most other shad imitations are working.

Catfish action has been slowed but can still be found in shallow coves and creek channels. Mackerel, Nightcrawlers, and packaged dough baits are still the best bait for the kitties.

Crappie fishing has also tapered some, but drifting the narrows with mini-jigs tipped with a nightcrawler is reportedly taking a number of slabs.

Trout fishing has been tough and most of the 'bows are holding about 50 ft. down in the water column around the dam. Those equipped with downriggers are managing a few quality hold-over fish.

Bluegill can still be found around the bulrush in the backs of most coves and are taking mealworms and redworms. Bow fishing for carp has been difficult as most of the buglemouths are holding in deeper water. Redear were a no show this week.
