http://www.flyfishersplace.com/index.phpAhhhh... Creme de la Creme! The Metolius is fishing great.?? Remember what great means on this river!?? Averaging 1-3 fish an hour is the norm.?? Have patience... it takes alot of quality time on the water to get a feel for this river's complex character which will eventually lead to fishing success.?? This is a stalking trout stream, casting from your knees and behind bushes to hide yourself from fish will help out.?? Wading often spooks fish, if you can hit the spot without getting in the river... do it!?? Green Drakes continue to hog the headlines.?? Look for them between 2-5 pm.?? This is a notoriouly sporatic hatch so if you don't see many where you are, move!?? PMDs through out the afternoon and evening, Caddis at night, Mayfly spinners at dark.?? BWOs will still hatch on cool, cloudy days. Yellow Sallies and small Green Stone flies are also present and the fish can move on and off them.?? Golden stones will be hatching by July 4 so nymphing with a golden nymph is a good idea.
