"We had a little delay this morning with a medical issue with one of our guests," noted the report from Qualifier 105 September 20. "After we took care of the situation, we went fishing. It was decided that the kayaks would go in the water but the skiffs would not. Therefore, with that done we went to find some yellowtail with the big boat. The plastic boats had good fishing and so did the big aluminum one. We had yellowtail for everyone on the big boat, it was run and gun type fishing, find a spot and hook some fish but they would swim away quick and we would have to chase schools around. We managed to get a good number of them for our light load on the Q. The kayaks had decent fishing for bass in the kelp. We will be here tomorrow for what we hope is a full day of fishing. Everyone is having fun and we have good weather."

There were many highlights from today's fishing exploits. From my vantage point the best by far was when charter master Tim Marshall was winding his surface jig through an intense swarm of yellowtail that was so charged up that none could manage to get the iron down. To begin with one twenty pound yellow, that was completely over the edge, jumped clear from the water in an attempt to best his numerous competitors. Those who fish for yellowtail regularly know how rare this is, and what the indication of such behavior is.
