Some days fly fishing on Lewiston Lake is easy, some days it's tough

Current Lake Conditions:
One day it's good, next it's tough. Anglers fishing small nymphs under indicators are doing best. Select #18 Black Micro Mayflies, Mercer's Gidget in brown or olive, #20 Serendipity, #18-22 Zebra Midges. Go small to tiny on the flies and fish them deep under an indicator that can be seen at 30-60 feet from the boat, or farther! Drop straight 5x-6x from the indicator to depths of 8.5-9.5 feet from the indicator. To go deeper, fish a RIO Deep-7 sinking line.

The Fly Shop's ? Tips:
You can't go too small. Can you? When using indicators, the takes can be difficult to see and detect, and then the takes can be electric. Successful indicator anglers keep the flies in the water, all the way to the backing, then low and slow retrieve. Sink tip fly lines allow anglers to retrieve leeches and buggers fast or slow. This lake is best fished from a motorized boat, pram or pontoon boat. Float tubes are fine if you are okay with walking back up to the parking lot after the slow current of Lewiston pushes you to the southern end of the lake.
