Captain Temo Verboonen reported in for an excellent change in the overall fishing throughout the Zihuatanejo area, immediately following the passing of Hurricane Hilary. He said, "the ocean flattened out perfectly and the fish cooperated with the anglers and better yet, it all started near the Zihuatanejo Bay entrance. While not too many boats fishing, those that did had many sailfish strikes for their efforts and good numbers on the quality sized dorado, (lots of fish in the 25-30 lb. ranges). There was excellent surface signs with bird schools, dolphin, bonito and skipjack all over and even an occasional blue marlin chasing around in the schools of fish. The inshore fishing continues to be good for the roosterfish, a few jack cravelle and African Pampano and the amberjack bite continues at the rocks. It has been a terrific change in overall fishing and all we need now is more anglers at the dock".

I/Z Climate:
Mostly cloudy days with temps that range from 73 nights to 91 daytime highs and an occasional scattered P.M. shower.

Sea Conditions:
Excellent water temps that ranged from 83 inshore to 86 offshore with light & variable surface breezes and flat calm seas.

Best Fishing Area:
Started at just 5-6 miles outside the Bay and outbound from there.

Best Bait/Lure:
Rigged baits were best for the sailfish and also worked very well for the bigger dorado. Live bait for the roosterfish.

Bait Supply:
Excellent bait supply for both, live bait and trolling baits.
