Once again, catfish generated the best action, with several 5 to 8 lb. fish weighed in at the marina. The best locations were Drakes Cove, Johnsons, Sweetwater and Santa Cruz Bays. The majority of the whiskerfish were taken on cut mackerel, but dough bait and chicken livers also worked well.

There has been a decent early morning top water bass bite on poppers and spooks. The PM bite has been good at times on the flats, and both largemouth and smallmouth were hitting a variety of spoons. Trolling for trout was fair, and some nice hold-overs were caught on needlefish combos down to 30 - 40 feet.

There were also some rainbows taken on bait in the Harveys Bay area. Bow fishing for carp has really improved, and with little work double digit numbers are possible. Bluegill are still in shallow water with structure all over the lake. A few Redear were also taken around the island on red worms. Only a handful of crappie was reported.

Trout anglers did get into a few this week, with a fair shore bite reported at Harveys. PowerBait and long leader was the trick for the bait anglers.......

The same pattern is still holding up, fly lined mackerel, packaged dough baits and chicken livers are still taking some quality fish to 8 lbs. Backs of coves, especially ones with creek channels have been the best locales. Bass fishing remains inconsistent, if you can find an active school, spooning has been the best way to target the largies and the smallies. There......
