Owner-skipper Mike Lackey returned his Vagabond to Point Loma Sportfishing December 5, 2011 after a ten-day trip to the Southern Banks. The trip enjoyed great weather, but tough fishing.

El Cajon Veterinarian Bob McKittrick scored a 130-pound yellowfin, the trip's best fish. Bob used a 6/0 Owner hook, 100-pound Izorline XXX, 100-pound Line One Spectra, an Accurate ATD 12 reel, and a Calstar 770 XX rod. Vagabond veteran Kirk Drickman of Westlake Village won second place with a 125-pound tuna. John Bounds of Winchester was third for a 105-pounder.

Yellowfin tuna World Record holder Mike Livingston, of Sunland, CA was also aboard the trip. He caught his 405.2-pound "Bull Tuna" on the same trip last year. "We went to every bank," Mike said, "and they were showing, but they just wouldn't bite. Everything looked good. The birds were there, the fish were boiling, and Mike Lackey tried the best we could. We finished up fishing yellowtail on the way back."
