So did angler Mike Ashford. "Every cast I made with a blue and white, tiger-striped Catchy Tackle Sea Strike 33 jig got a strike," said Ashford. "It was the same at Uncle Sam Bank and at Cedros Island. I hooked over 100 yellowtail, released most, and kept a limit."
Nelz Vellocido of San Diego got a 50.8-pound yellowtail on a Salas 7X jig in sardine trim. He fished 40-pound Izorline on a Trinidad 20 reel and a Seeker Ulua 100 rod, and whipped his toady boy in five minutes.
Dave Hutzler of Mesa, AZ found a 50.4-pound olive grouper on the end of his line.
