Royal Polaris Sportfishing Trip Update (021412)

FIRST DAY FISHING!!! We were beginning to think when they repaired the boat from the previous trip that some how they got the engines stuck on cruise control but finally around five this afternoon we stopped the boat, threw the anchor and began fishing. We knew we wouldn't have much time before dark and reports indicated slower fishing conditions, but never the less, we were not with out some success. Steve Hanks was first up on the kite and fittingly caught the first fish of the trip, a respectable wahoo. Dave Marsden took his place and was rewarded with a 140 Yellowfin which was significant because it doubled his previous personal best. Roger Hawtree caught the only bait fish on this first attempt, a smaller grade tuna. With the limited fishing time we had, we considered any thing we caught today as a bonus, so all in all a decent beginning. The crew is now trying for flyers and first flights for the kite tomorrow morning are scheduled for 4:30. There is a lot of pent up adrenaline so I expect a large turn out in the early A.M. , and a major effort by all as tomorrow wears on. We don't know when we'll have a satellite signal and it could be when you read this report there will be a bunch of others that show up on the same day, but I'll write them every evening and you'll be up to date when ever they get through. POEM OF THE DAY: Birth defects just stink! The poor squid was gone in a blink Totally defenseless His death was just senseless Born with invisible ink.

If you would like to go fishing with us please BOOK ONLINE or call (619) 226-8092 to get in on the action.
