Howdy friends and Sierra Drifters. It has been fun while it lasted, however I have to report that the Lower Owens River is going to be on the rise. The good news is that I am told from inside sources that the total increase will be up to 200 cfs by the middle of next week and then hold here for an extended period of time. This is not a bad level, especially for this time of year and it will only take a few days for the fish to adjust, water clarity improve, and "catching" get good again. Wading at 200cfs is not difficult and access will be good in the wade sections of the river. We have seen some great caddis activity in the immediate water below the dam at PV, while streamer fishing reamins good for larger fish in the drift boat sections. Make sure you have some olive crystal caddis patterns as well as pheasant tails and birds nest for nymphs. #18 elk hair patterns have been good. As the water increases we will see a drop off for a few days in the emergences as all the aquatic life adjusts to the new levels and water temps.
